Securing Your Dates
To secure your dates, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the trip. Bookings made within 30 days of departure require payment in full at time of reservation.
Cancellations by Client
Deposits are non-refundable. However, we will do everything in our power to rebook those dates. If we are successful in rebooking your dates with another client, your deposit will be refunded minus a 10% processing fee to cover credit card and administrative costs.
Cancellations made within 30 days of the trip are also non-refundable, unless we are able to rebook your charter. In that case, a refund will be issued minus the 10% processing fee.Clients may also choose to:
Reschedule for another available date within the same season/year, or
Transfer their booking to another party (subject to approval and any necessary documentation).
We strongly encourage guests to purchase travel insurance to protect their investment.
We know plans change. But on a short Alaska season, every charter counts.
Cancellations by Tundra Adventure Charters
If we must cancel a trip before departure due to weather, mechanical issues, or unforeseen circumstances, guests will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule for a later date.
If a trip is canceled after departure due to weather or mechanical failure, refunds will be prorated based on the duration and activities completed.
The captain has full authority to cancel trips due to weather (trust us, you don’t want to be out there if he says no).
In the event of cancellation due to acts of God, including but not limited to volcanic activity, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, or other natural disasters, Tundra Adventure Charters reserves the right to cancel the trip. In such cases, no refunds will be issued, but a credit will be provided for use within 18 months.
We strongly encourage guests get travel insurance that covers trip interruption or cancellation due to natural disasters.

For fishing and sightseeing trips dressing in layers is always the best way to go.
Sweatshirts, jeans, rain gear and comfortable clothes make all the difference. Hats are great for wind, sun, and heat loss on cooler days. Gloves and comfortable non-skid sneakers, boots or walking shoes are great.
Don’t forget your camera for those amazing views you will see.

Self Driving: From Girdwood, drive south approx. 20 minutes to the Portage Glacier/ Whittier Tunnel turn off. Turn left there and follow signs to tunnel entrance. The tunnel traffic is a controlled one-way lane that opens on the half hour from the Portage side. Summer hours start at 5:30 am. The lane is only open for 15 minutes one direction, then closes & opens from the Whittier side on the 15 & 45 minute times.
Unscheduled trains using the tunnel in addition to the regularly scheduled passenger trains may cause occasional delays. Please plan with this possibility in mind. Once you arrive on the Whittier side of tunnel follow the road to the Cliffside Marina which will be the first harbor on the left and parking will be available. If you are in a trailer or large motor home you will have to park in dedicated parking across railroad tracks and to the right.
Shuttle Van Service: Bear Valley Road Runner offers transportation services to Whittier
Train: From Anchorage, the Alaska Railroad’s Glacier Discovery train stops briefly at the resort town of Girdwood before continuing on to Whittier; here the train travels through a mountain tunnel, providing a perfect connection for a cruise in Prince William Sound.

If something happens to delay your arrival into the town of Whittier, call Capt. John directly at (907) 301-9532. He may be able to adjust the departure time of the boat so you may catch the next tunnel. Remember if there are more guests on board this will affect their trip as well, so do your best to arrive on time or early if need be.
There is a nice coffee shop near the dock to relax at if you do arrive ahead of schedule. If you do find yourself delayed on the Portage side of the tunnel, you will find there is no cell phone service at the tunnel entrance. Drive back to the Portage Visitor Center or Portage Lodge for use of a phone.
